Who we are
English Speaking Tutor (englishspeakingtutor.co.uk) provides one-to-one English conversation practice over video call. For any question about this policy or your personal information, contact [email protected].
Information we collect
When you register or book a session, we collect:
- Your name and email address
- A securely hashed version of your password — we never store, and never have access to, your actual password
- Your preferred language and time zone
- Booking details: the date and time of your session, any topic you choose to tell us in advance, and the payment amount and currency
- Messages you send us through the site, including during video call sessions
How we use it
We use this information only to provide the tutoring service: to confirm and manage your bookings, to communicate with you about your sessions, and to translate messages between you and the tutor when you're writing in different languages.
Payments
Card payments are processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details — they're entered directly on Stripe's own secure checkout page, not on this site.
Cookies and local storage
This site uses a single session cookie, set only once you log in, purely to keep you signed in. It's a technical necessity for the site to function, is not used to track you across other websites, and is deleted the moment you log out or close your browser. We also store your language preference in your browser's own local storage, purely so the site remembers which language to show you.
We do not use any advertising cookies, tracking pixels, web beacons, or third-party analytics or advertising trackers of any kind.
Location detection
We use your IP address, checked against a database held locally on our own server, to guess your country so the site can automatically show itself in your language and your local time zone. This lookup happens locally — your IP address is not sent to any third party for this purpose.
Who we share information with
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or marketers, ever. We only share the minimum information necessary with these service providers, strictly to operate the service:
- Stripe, to process your payment
- Our email provider, to send booking confirmations and password reset emails
- A translation service, only if you and the tutor are writing in different languages, so your messages can be translated for each other
How long we keep your information
We keep your account and booking information for as long as your account is active, so you can see your own booking history. If you'd like your personal information accessed, corrected, or deleted, contact [email protected] and we'll action your request promptly.
Your rights
If you're in the UK or EU, you have rights under data protection law (including the UK GDPR) to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to object to how it's used. Contact [email protected] to exercise any of these rights.

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent change.
